Wet Weather

With the beck flowing, I’ve seen Showerbath Passage becoming impassable due to the force of flow beginning at Confusion Corner. In this case, access to the Manchester Bypass is still possible by taking Spout Bypass and then climbing up to the true right of the spout in Spout Hall, then taking the flat out crawl through to the passage leading to Battle of Britain and Poetic Justice Bypass.

Both Iraqnaphobia (+ Clough’s Passage) and Dismal Bypass offer wet-weather routes to Mancunian Way. However, the pitches on both apparently become unpleasantly wet. During a wet July period (20mm+ of rain during the day on saturated ground), with the beck flowing, I found that Dismal Bypass may become inaccessible in very bad weather due to the force of water in Razor Passage becoming too great to safely pass. In these conditions, Showerbath Passage as far down as Ignorance is Bliss remained perfectly passable (taking Spout Bypass).
